Student Spotlight: Andreah Hyde
Human Services major at Red Cliff Outreach.
I am a Red cliff tribal member and have lived here since I was little. I have a fiancé we are getting married next year summer. I enjoy being around my family especially my niece and nephew.
Why did you decide to pursue a college degree with Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College?
My mom went to this school and she enjoyed going to the college. She thought it would be a good college for me to go.
How is Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College different from other college options?
They want to see you succeed and get your degree. They also have a lot of help that I am not sure other colleges have.
What has been your favorite class so far?
Intro to Ojibwe Culture
What student organizations are you a part of? Why?
I am not sure if peer mentor is student organization, but I am doing that, and it is nice to be working with students so I can help then with any questions they have and with their homework.
What advice would you give someone who is undecided on starting college?
Do what makes you feel comfortable. If you feel you want to enter the work force and then you decide college is what you want to do then apply.
What will you do after you complete your degree with Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College?
I plan to continue my education at LCO College and go for my bachelor’s degree in Human Services.
What does it mean to you to attend college in our local community?
It is nice to have an Outreach site because then I do not have to travel to main campus to do my classes I just have to travel a couple miles to the cabin for classes.
What does it mean to you to attend a Tribal College?
To learn more about my culture that I did not know much about and how we are helping other natives get their degree.
What else would you like to share?
I enjoy everyone here the college they make you feel comfortable and interact with you when you have a question and just a concern.
