Career Services

Career Services is here for you! Career Services at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University are designed to assist students with their career development process. As with all career development there are three questions, which we will assist students in answering for themselves: Who am I? Where am I going? How do I get there? At LCOOU we understand that career development does not stop at getting the job, so we added a fourth question “How do I stay/Do I want to stay?” We strive to provide meaningful experiences that will help students answer these questions.

Internships at LCOOU are an exciting way to ‘earn while you learn’ and get a jump start on your career! Student Internships are only open to LCOOU student and provide students with a means to learn about and explore their chosen career field.

Students who take advantage of the paid internships will earn a competitive wage while deciding if this career choice is right for them. Currently student interns are compensated at $15 per hour for up to 20 hours per week and internship hours will work around the students’ schedule.

Statistics: 2020-2021, Interns held an 86% retention rate (Fall 2020-Fall 2021).

  • Student Intern Testimonials:

    · I really enjoy the program. Gives me plenty of employment opportunities and helps with learning new skills. Thanks for having me in your program.

    · Having an internship while attending college was very helpful as I was able to attend school, but also work around my class schedule. Internships are a great way to gain job experience in the related field you are seeking; learn more about your strengths and weaknesses; and having hands-on experiences within the field. I’m grateful for the opportunity as I have found a passion in the department I was placed in and now work full-time in that department. Miigwech!

Basic eligibility for all internships include:

    · 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)

    · Be enrolled in 6 credits with LCOOU

    · Be enrolled in an LCOOU academic program

    · Complete application to the Placement Coordinator’s Office (application, cover letter, resume, current LCOOC course schedule and unofficial transcripts)
