What made you choose Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University?

I chose Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University because it felt like a home away from home. I wanted to go to a place that encourages me to learn more about my culture while getting a foundation in higher education and preparation for when I continue my schooling. The people are what make this place welcoming and provide me with a safe space to explore who I am becoming. It is a good mix of offering support and challenging students to achieve their dreams while cultivating Ojibwe traditions. Coming here is one the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself!

What has helped you become the student you are today?

There is something unique about LCOOU. The personal relationships that grow every day creates a support system every student needs. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the faculty and friends that helped establish a space where I can express myself, make mistakes, meet new people, learn self-compassion, patience, and self-love. In addition to this, the TRiO program reached out to me when I didn’t even know I needed it. I will be forever thankful for the dedication they have invested into me and other students.

How will your education help you accomplish your occupational goals?

To achieve my professional goals, education is essential. So far, it has provided me with the credentials, expertise, and training that I need to excel in the future. LCOOU has offered different opportunities for both personal and professional advancement. The Student Internships that I have been involved in has opened so many doors for me! Obtaining an education has aided me in achieving my career goals and enhancing my quality of life.
