Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College Receives Appropriation
Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College (LCOOC) advocated for and recently received $5,000,000 as part of the Omnibus Appropriations Legislation for Fiscal Year 2022 for development of student housing as part of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College’s plans for a new campus.
U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, spent the last year working to fund projects on behalf of public and nonprofit entities across Wisconsin. The funding was signed by President Biden on March 15, 2022.
“I worked to include this federal funding because it delivers support from Washington to Wisconsin,” said Senator Baldwin. “This federal funding will support a wide variety of improvements in our state. I’m proud to have worked in a bipartisan way to fund these projects and deliver results for communities across Wisconsin.”
LCOOC completed a master facility plan in fall of 2020, the plan seeks to create facilities that are inviting and appealing, and that promote the recruitment of diverse learners. A top priority of the master facility plan, as identified by focus groups, is student housing. The appropriations funding received will assist LCOOC in developing a new campus.
