Alternative Spring Break

Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College Students, Staff, Faculty, Alumni, and area community members participated in the College’s inaugural Alternative Spring Break event in March. This year’s event, a virtual letter-writing campaign to local Elders, saw more than 50 volunteers participate.

Volunteers were encouraged to share thoughts of spring and appreciation for Elders. Letters were delivered through the Lac Courte Oreilles Elders Meal Program; we are grateful for this partnership and opportunity to share a conversation.

As a College Community, look forward to when we can be together again. As Dr. Russell Swagger, President of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College says:

“We miss our elders being able to come to the college to cook and share fellowship with us. We look forward to the return of those days. COVID has been extremely hard on all of us but especially hard for people that are lonely and in need of friendship and companionship.”

Planning for an in-person 2022 Alternative Spring Break event is currently underway, save the date for March 2022.
