LCOOC Student Winner of Scholarship

The 2022 Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner Keynote Speaker

The National Space Club & Foundation proudly announces after a nation-wide search that Ms. Parker Arntsen-Beaudin has won the National Space Club & Foundation Keynote Scholarship, securing her role as the keynote speaker during the Club’s 65th Annual Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner.

The Space Club is devoted to fostering excellence in space activity through interaction between industry and government, and through a continuing program of educational support. The National Space Club & Foundation Keynote Scholarship was created in 2012 and is provided to a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student with the intention to pursue a career in STEM fields. Applicants were required to complete an online application and submit a video on why he or she is inspired by space, with finalists undergoing live remarks and interviews. In addition to serving as the dinner keynote speaker at the Dr. Robert H. Goddard Memorial Dinner, the winner receives a $10,000 scholarship. We look forward to honoring Parker Arntsen-Beaudin at the Goddard Memorial Dinner on March 18, 2022.

Ms. Arntsen-Beaudin is a senior at Northern Waters Environmental School, an environmental charter school in Hayward, Wisconsin. She is also dual-enrolled as a science major at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College. She plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall of 2022 where she aspires to pursue a doctorate in the environmental sciences. Throughout high school, Parker has had a passion for both the environmental sciences and visual arts. Parker’s passion and advanced skills in drawing and art landed her the position of President of her school’s Art Club, as well as winning her several art competitions. Her art skills also led to her acceptance to the Northern Plains Summer Art Institute, a competitive summer art program for Native American students though Plains Art Museum in Fargo, North Dakota. Currently, Parker serves as coordinator for the Friends of the Eau Claire Lakes Area’s Lake Ecology Education Program, an award-winning environmental education program for middle school students. Parker is involved in multiple student organizations at her college including the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, American Indigenous Business Leaders, and Student Engagement Committee. She is also team lead for the college’s First Nations Launch team, a NASA-Hosted high-powered rocket competition. Parker aspires to be an environmental researcher and advocate for environmental conservation. Parker hopes to inspire other Native Americans, women, and people in the LGBTQ+ community to pursue careers within STEM.
